Cassie’s story is one for the books. A little over a year ago she was in a horrible house fire with her family. She was the only one flown to UVA and stayed there for a while to completely recover. I am so thankful I didn’t know Cassie yet. Honestly, I am not sure how I would have handled knowing one of my students was in so much pain and recovering from such a horrible accident.

This girl, right here pulls at my heartstrings. She is a student of mine, but her story is far more important than my love for knowing and being a small part of her life. I had heard of a family in town that was in an awful house fire but I never knew what this girl would bring to my life.

First day meeting Cassie I knew there was something so special about her. Most people know her as the girl who survived. The girl who went through something unimaginable. The girl who made it out! I know her as the girl who has made my life better by being a part of hers. She told me about the fire on day 2 in my classroom. It had only happened a few months prior to her stepping foot in my room. I immediately noticed her scars and she opened up to me immediately. It was like she knew I would be a part of her life from that moment forward.

If you look closely, you will see her scars… one from her traque and the others from burns. The amazing part is, that this situation doesn’t define her, it has only made her a more confident and beautiful human being. I am the lucky one to know and teach her. Most people also feel this way knowing Cassie. She lights up a room. She has only become a better person because of the experience she has been through. I cannot wait to see all she does in this life of hers. Nothing will stand in her way, this I know for sure.

I’m telling you… you don’t want to miss this blog post…. this girl has YELLOW eyes! So so cool! Ellie was just the sweetest girl! She had a huge and contagious smile the whole time. I told her she was making me smile behind camera so much that my cheeks were hurting. Ellie is a lover of animals and even trains horses on a horse farm. During the session with headed to the horse farm she works at and worked with her sweet horse that she nursed back to health after pregnancy. It was such an adorable session! That purple romper you see in her session was $7 at the thrift store… she just cut the long legs off and made the cutest little outfit! I adore it!3J0A84813J0A83743J0A83893J0A83923J0A83953J0A84073J0A84133J0A84223J0A84253J0A84283J0A84393J0A84433J0A84453J0A84473J0A84653J0A84703J0A84773J0A84783J0A84813J0A84943J0A85063J0A85203J0A85243J0A85273J0A85333J0A85493J0A85503J0A85603J0A85663J0A85683J0A85723J0A85733J0A85763J0A85813J0A85833J0A85863J0A85933J0A86043J0A86163J0A86253J0A86473J0A86613J0A86633J0A86653J0A86713J0A86723J0A86743J0A86803J0A86873J0A87033J0A87083J0A87133J0A87243J0A87363J0A87373J0A87433J0A87473J0A87523J0A87613J0A87793J0A87853J0A87903J0A87943J0A88023J0A88073J0A88153J0A88163J0A88223J0A88273J0A88283J0A8868

This TA High School senior was rained out her first session… and then it decided to call for more massive storms for the next makeup session! We decided to meet a tad earlier and risk it… and it worked! The storm came barreling in about 20 minutes after we finished our last shot! This sweet girl was so much fun and so photogenic! I really enjoyed working with her and her creative outfits! Enjoy a little high school senior post… again! :

These TWO! I am SO so SO excited for them and their recent engagement! Ashley and I knew each other in college but I was a tad ahead of her in eduction classes so we never became super close UNTIL she got a job teaching in my county! This past year I moved to the high school level and we quickly became close, talking daily and collaborating a ton. We help each other become better educators and I can’t thank her enough for being my partner in this crazy high school world…. Anyways! They are engaged, and I was so excited when she chose me for her photographer! I was actually extremely flattered… because she studied photography as well in college, so this was a huge compliment to me and my business!

We headed to Luray, Virginia for their engagements. This is where Mike grew up and honestly this place is beautiful in every way. There are views everywhere and you feel like you are just being snuggled by mountains. About an hour before the session I looked outside because I heard thunder, looked at my phone….. under a thunderstorm watch and refused to text Ashley. This happens a lot this time of year and usually the sky opens to beauty! Well…. as I am driving luray looks so so dark and everywhere else is absolutely beautiful and opening up. Finally I text her telling her we would still go and hope for the best… and it was THE best! It was a tad dark but that made the sky look stunning.

I threw them in weeds, made them sit in soaking ground, stand in front of lightning, walk through massive amounts of mud, get in a BOAT….that took on some water (whoops!), and sit in a patch of nesting spiders! They did it with mostly all smiles until the spiders came out! Such an amazing session! 2016-08-14_00842016-08-14_00012016-08-14_00022016-08-14_00032016-08-14_00052016-08-14_00042016-08-14_00062016-08-14_00072016-08-14_00082016-08-14_00092016-08-14_00102016-08-14_00112016-08-14_00122016-08-14_00132016-08-14_00142016-08-14_00152016-08-14_00162016-08-14_00172016-08-14_00182016-08-14_00192016-08-14_00202016-08-14_00212016-08-14_00222016-08-14_00232016-08-14_00242016-08-14_00252016-08-14_00262016-08-14_00272016-08-14_00282016-08-14_00292016-08-14_00302016-08-14_00312016-08-14_00322016-08-14_00332016-08-14_00342016-08-14_00352016-08-14_00362016-08-14_00372016-08-14_00382016-08-14_00392016-08-14_00402016-08-14_00412016-08-14_00422016-08-14_00432016-08-14_00442016-08-14_00452016-08-14_00462016-08-14_00472016-08-14_00482016-08-14_00492016-08-14_00502016-08-14_00512016-08-14_00522016-08-14_00532016-08-14_00542016-08-14_00552016-08-14_00562016-08-14_00572016-08-14_00582016-08-14_00592016-08-14_00602016-08-14_00612016-08-14_00622016-08-14_00632016-08-14_00642016-08-14_00652016-08-14_0066When the boat started taking on some water….2016-08-14_00672016-08-14_00682016-08-14_00692016-08-14_00702016-08-14_00712016-08-14_00722016-08-14_00732016-08-14_00742016-08-14_00752016-08-14_00762016-08-14_00772016-08-14_00782016-08-14_00792016-08-14_00802016-08-14_00812016-08-14_00822016-08-14_0083

This was a FIRST for KKP! Such a fun and unique session with this Spotswood High School Senior!! Christian loves soccer and fishing. Tonight we focused on fishing… the fall will be soccer! I had so much fun learning about this crazy hard fishing technique. We went to the famous Mossy Creek fishing site and ran all around grabbing some beautiful images. Christian told me during the session he has spent 6 hours on the water not catching a single fish! WHAT! I would die! I was SO hoping he would catch one while I was there but it didn’t look like my one hour time frame would give this photographer much luck!…..

2016-08-13_0045………After the session and no fish christian ran back to the water while his mom and I were talking. He knows us woman, and that we love to chat so he used this time to get back in the water. We heard him screaming for us so we took off to find him with a HUGGGGGGE rainbow! I about died of excitement for him! The best part…it was the BIGGEST fish he has ever caught!!!! I am so glad I was there with camera in hand to capture this moment for him! So so fun! 2016-08-13_00502016-08-13_00012016-08-13_00022016-08-13_00032016-08-13_00042016-08-13_00052016-08-13_00062016-08-13_00072016-08-13_00082016-08-13_00092016-08-13_00102016-08-13_00112016-08-13_00122016-08-13_00132016-08-13_00142016-08-13_00152016-08-13_00162016-08-13_00172016-08-13_00182016-08-13_00192016-08-13_00202016-08-13_00212016-08-13_00222016-08-13_00232016-08-13_00242016-08-13_00252016-08-13_00262016-08-13_00272016-08-13_00282016-08-13_00292016-08-13_00302016-08-13_00312016-08-13_00322016-08-13_00332016-08-13_00342016-08-13_00352016-08-13_00362016-08-13_00372016-08-13_00382016-08-13_00392016-08-13_00402016-08-13_00412016-08-13_00422016-08-13_00432016-08-13_00442016-08-13_00452016-08-13_00462016-08-13_00472016-08-13_00482016-08-13_0049
